What is the secret to money in my life?

Dear Antonio,

The secret to manifesting money in most people's lives, and possibly yours, is to get out of a mindset of scarcity, that is, a thinking pattern that repetitively says, "I don't have enough". When we think that there is not enough, we manifest "not enough" in our lives.

For example, a man recently complained to me that he didn't like the part in the hit movie The Secret when they showed sports cars and jewelry. He felt it sent the wrong message. I challenged him on his thinking. To the Universe, there is nothing wrong with sports cars or jewelry. They are beautiful creations of man inspired by spirit...how could these things be wrong?

For this man, showing material things in the movie were "wrong" because his underlying thought was that there wasn't enough in the world for everyone to enjoy these things. That is where he is incorrect. Although that it is true that there is a huge disparity between rich and poor at this time, it is not because there is not enough for everyone! It is because of the FEAR of not having enough that we do not share our resources with others including other countries. Fearful thinking is scarcity thinking.

You deserve money to enjoy your life. Make sure that you are not thinking negative thoughts of rich and wealthy people because you are sabotaging your efforts to manifest money! Instead, make a habit of feeling good about riches and wealth, knowing inside you can manifest it too.

Another thing you can do is to count your blessings. The Universe only gives more to those who appreciate what they already have. If you have a clunker of a car, appreciate it today for it is still working and getting you places more than if you didn't have it! The Universe will only give you what you demonstrate is important to you. Money is important, no question. If you treat even a penny with respect and appreciation, you will naturally start to attract more.

I need two million dollars to pay all of my debts. I want to win this money in the lottery. How can I use the law of attraction to get it?

Dear Maria,

I have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that you can indeed attract money to you...even two million dollars. The "bad" news is that your thoughts about how and why you want the money will NOT support you in this endeavor.

First of all, why do you want the money? To pay off debts right? Now, how much excitement is there for your personally to pay off debts? Maybe a little. For most people there is not a lot of passion and excitement to pay off debts...why should there be? But yet, passion is a key ingredient in harnessing the law of attraction. So, to improve your chances of attracting money I want you to make a list of five important passionate reasons to have that much money and more...and you can't include paying off debts as one of them!

If you have a passion to save the world's children from child abuse and need the money to set up a foundation to do research and outreach, you'll get the money. If you have a passion to have a dream home in the mountains, you'll get the money. But if your focus is on paying debts...it is unlikely you will. So bottom line, change your focus and make it passionate. Paying off debts will be a side effect but not the main purpose.

Second thing. I know a lot of wealthy people. Not a single one of them got rich winning the lottery. If you look at the facts, almost all lottery winners return to their original state of "wealth" within a year or two. What does that mean for you? Even if you were to win the lottery and pay off all your debts, you will accumulate that much debt again. Why? Because you haven't changed your thinking and your habits.

Wealthy people have thoughts and habits that others do not. If you want two million dollars, you better be willing to learn these thoughts and habits and ingrain them into your life (own them in other words). If wanting to win the million dollar lottery. How

do you ask and what affirmations are used?

Dear Kateba & Nanette,

The first thing you want to do is not to limit yourself to receiving
money from one source i.e. the lottery. Statistics show that most
multi-million dollar lottery winners return to their former state of
finances within two years and sometimes worse off. Why do you
think that is?

Since this is the case, you need to discover the ingredients not
only to attract the money but also to hold and grow it. Ah! This
takes a learnable set of skills and personal development. If you
poll every one of the law of attraction teachers out there, and
most are wealthy, I bet you that not a single one of them will say
that winning the lottery was their primary strategy for wealth.

Instead, what they did was to have a passion and a goal to add
value to others, and from this place of passion attracted their way
into money. To be wealthy, and to use the law of attraction, you
need to show the Universe that you have the same thoughts and
habits as wealthy people, who have learned how to grow money,
sometimes out of very little and keep it.

If you have “poor” thoughts and habits, you will tell the Universe
that you are not ready to receive large sums of money. Also, you
need to show the Universe that you can handle the money you
already have before you’ll receive more. I highly recommend that
you read the book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker,
to study your money blueprint and how you may be blocking money
coming to you. I would also encourage you to listen to the free

Very important: you need to appreciate and thank the Universe
for all the money you have now. If you don’t appreciate what you
have, the Universe will think it is not important to you and thus will
not bring you more.

The Universe also wants to know about your “WHY’s”. Why do you
want millions? Kateba, you already have an idea to start a venture
capital fund. Good. Why? To benefit whom?

You both need to be very clear on what exactly you are going to do
with that money. In fact, most of us do not want lots of money for
the sake of having money. We want the money to DO things with.
So you need to be clear in your mind the LIFE and LIFESTYLE you
wish to attract. Make your vision board with scenes of your life with
your new money. For just a few minutes a day, embody the reality
(with every cell in your body) that you’ve attained your ultimate lifestyle.

You can price out what your lifestyle would cost per month so that
the Universe can bring you an appropriate amount. If your WHY is
not big enough to garner enough passion from you, the Universe
will not bring you what you want because it doesn’t see that you
really need it.

In summary:

1. Do not limit yourself to receiving money just from the lottery.

2. Learn how to appreciate and handle the money you have
now, even if it is a dollar.

3. Learn thoughts and habits of wealthy people

4. Use your passion to create a way to add value to others
and you will attract money

5. Be clear on your WHY’s and create your vision board and
daily whole body visualizations of having your dream life already.

6. Advanced work: price out your dream lifestyle in great
detail as a per month cost – this is a very quick way to
bring more money to you, but takes time and effort.

I recently placed an order to the Universe to create a new housing
opportunity that would support financial freedom. I manifested an
opportunity almost immediately except that I realized later that I
would be sacrificing my self-esteem to accept. Am I holding a sub-
conscious pattern between money and self-esteem? I feel like I
co-created this situation to grow myself. How does this all decipher?

Dear Marie,

Excellent question! At times when we make a request of The Universe,
we do get our intentions fulfilled very quickly, but then we realize that
it doesn’t feel quite right. What happened? Here are the possibilities.

Don't worry about whether you are holding a subconscious pattern
regarding money and self-esteem. You did a great job with your i
ntention, and now you just need to tweak it – in other words,
you can say to The Universe, “Thank you for this opportunity!
You’ve opened me up to greater possibilities AND I’ve noticed
something else that I’d like to add to my request given this
experience….” Your prayer for a win-win situation may be just the
ticket you need. Make your vision for what you want so clear you
can feel it with every fiber of your being...that will help a lot.

Another possibility is that The Universe is using this situation to
force you to grow into your power more than ever before – to act
in a way that proves that you believe that you can have both
financial freedom AND a supportive work environment that you
deserve. Many people believe that they have to sacrifice one
for the other. That is dualistic, “either/or” thinking.

The Universe wants us all to understand that the world it offers
is not “either/or”….it is “and”. We can have both money and love,
wealth and health, a thriving business and a lot of playtime, etc.

And you revealed your trust in The Universe that it will give you
the perfect situation, so you were able to let go of this less than
“perfect” one for you. Your goals need not be attained by struggle.
You co-created this situation to practice strengthening your inner
power and in the process you’ve displayed trust in The Universe
that you will always been given more opportunities. Congratulations!

How do I ask for Money?

Dear Donna,

As simple as this question seems, I can understand why you are
asking it. There is no absolute right or wrong way, but you’ll d
iscover the way that works for you by experimenting.

Dr. Joe Vitale in the movie The Secret suggests that we ask
The Universe in this way: “I would like $25,000 in unexpected
income in 30 days” and he qualifies that it must be believable
to you.

I rather like another form of asking, which is to write down your
“wish” as a new reality in the present tense, as explained in
intuitive healer Laura Day's book, The Circle. For example,
“I am receiving an extra $3000 a month in unexpected income
within 3 months”. Again it must be believable to you.
Even better, I love the suggestion of Bob Proctor from
The Secret, which is starting the sentence off with,
“I am so happy and grateful that….I am receiving an e
xtra $3000 a month in unexpected income!”

What happens though when your wish is not answered?
There are two main reasons: 1) the amount of money or
time frame is not truly believable to you. 2) The Universe
has determined that it was not in your best interest.

Let’s talk about 2) for a minute. If you are a poor receiver
(and I know many people who fit in this category including myself!),
you have literally taught The Universe NOT to give to you.
You must practice being a good receiver. When someone
gives you a compliment, smile and just say thank you. If
you receive a gift, don’t give it away to someone else right
away that you feel needs or deserves it more than you!
Make it your daily practice to receive! And express gratitude.
“Thank you sun for shining today for me! Thank you Universe
for my amazing parking spot!”

Lastly, the other main reason you may not be receiving
the money is that you have not shown The Universe that
you can handle extra money. The Universe will not set you
up to fail! If you have only $1 and manage it poorly,
The Universe will not send you more! I highly recommend

Manifesting more money is easier for some than for others.
If you are finding it difficult to manifest more money in your life,
you are not alone. Did you know that one of the first things you
can do right now to encourage The Universe to give you more
money is to learn to fully appreciate what you have right now!
Get out paper and a pen and right now write down ten ways
you appreciate the money you have, and most importantly,
while you are doing this, feel the appreciation! That is the key!

If The Universe gets the message from you that you are not
thankful for the money you have, even it if is one penny in
your bank account, it automatically assumes that you don't
want any more! Why? Because when you do not appreciate
something, The Universe thinks you do not think it is important
and therefore will not bother to send you more.

Whether you have one dollar or one million dollars, it is the
same energy to the Universe. Only because you think it is
harder to manifest one million dollars vs. one dollar is the
reason why it takes longer.

And if you happen to be a "spiritual" money monk who feels
"money is not important", think about this: Would your spouse
stay around if he wasn't important to you? Would your best
friend bother with you if you thought she was unimportant?
Anyone who doesn't think money is important is probably broke!
Money is important in the areas in which it works and it is
unimportant in the areas in which it doesn't work. Beware of
judging money as more important than love. That is like saying
that your left arm is more important than your right arm!
Ridiculous! Both are important!

How do I get my husband on board with the law of
attraction when he is so negative, re: we will never have enough money to
buy a nice house?

Dear Darcey,
We have no control over another's beliefs and thoughts, however, we can influence others without even trying.

Here's the "trick". You do not have to buy into your husband's beliefs, nor do you have to feel that you need to prove him wrong.

It is possible that his negativity or focus on scarcity may be repetitive enough to manifest just that for his personal life, but you can have separate beliefs of abundance and manifest something completely differently.

It would be a waste of your energy to try to convince your husband to believe what you believe. So just allow him to be who he is and just focus on your own manifestations.

When he sees that you have manifested what you believe, over and over again, then maybe, just maybe, he may want emulate your success.

So just focus on you. Spend little energy focused on his beliefs (don't even judge them) and just understand that you can BE the example of love and prosperity in his life. And what a Gift that would be to all who know you!
